About Louise Hill Design

Louise Hill stands as a luminary, her journey intricately woven with threads of talent, inspiration, and a profound love for the arts. Born into a family of skilled designers, her early years were a tapestry of beautiful textiles and captivating artwork, laying the foundation for a future filled with innovation and artistic brilliance.

Louise's design odyssey began in the heart of London, where she graduated from Art School in 1990, paving the way for a distinguished career in high-end packaging design. Over the next 15 years, she lent her creative prowess to renowned clients such as United Distillers (now Diageo), Crabtree & Evelyn, Highgrove, Fortnum & Mason’s, and Marks & Spencers. The esteemed companies she worked with, including Butcher & Gundersen, Peter Windett & Associates, M&S, and Ian Logan Design, became the canvas for her exploration of color, typography, illustration, and detailed artwork.

Her passion for design took a new form after a transformative year of exploration through Asia with her husband. The experience fueled her creativity, leading to a shift in focus towards becoming a photographic and mixed media artist. Armed with a wealth of design, illustration, and photography skills, Louise embarked on a journey of self-expression.

In Melbourne, Australia, she freelanced and shared her insights as a guest lecturer at RMIT, adding depth to her creative repertoire. The birth of twin boys brought her back to the artistic haven of Brighton, UK, and after a brief hiatus, the family embraced the allure of Asia. From Shanghai to Hong Kong and now Singapore, Louise found inspiration in the energy and vibrant colors of the East, infusing her work with a distinctive cultural flair.

Louise's creative process is a symphony of design elements. She captures architectural details, vintage objet d’art, and textiles from her curated collections through her lens. A dash of illustration, a sprinkle of pattern, and sometimes a touch of vintage imagery contribute to the rich tapestry of her creations. The culmination occurs digitally, where Louise meticulously combines these elements into highly detailed, multi-layered artworks that come to life on canvas or etching paper.

Her dedication goes beyond the digital realm. Some pieces undergo a manual touch – hand-finished with gold and metallic inks or adorned with metallic leaf, showcasing her commitment to craftsmanship and patience. Pieces like 'Chinoiserie in Aquamarine & Powder Blues,' ‘Chinoiserie in Teal & Peacock Blue,’ and ‘China White & Champagne Gold’ stand as testaments to her intricate artistry.

At the heart of Louise Hill's design brand is an unwavering passion. She invites viewers into a world where every stroke, every layer, and every hue tells a story. As she continues to evolve as an artist, Louise's hope is that others find as much joy in experiencing her work as she finds in creating it – a sentiment that resonates in every piece that bears the imprint of her boundless creativity and design expertise.
