Originating from Lim Lam Thye Pte Ltd in 1918, one of Singapore's premier tea importers, Gryphon Tea Company emerged as a distinct entity in 2006 under the visionary leadership of Lim Tian Wee, a fourth-generation member of the family.

Since its inception, Gryphon Tea has been a trailblazer in the world of gourmet teas, guided by a passionate pursuit of new taste experiences. The company's journey began with a focus on quality Chinese teas in Singapore, and it has since blossomed into a global phenomenon. Gryphon Tea's reputation for maverick ideas and enthusiasm quickly garnered a dedicated following, leading to the brand's availability worldwide through online shopping and a network of committed distribution partners.

The brand's story unfolds through a timeline marked by significant milestones and expansions. From its initial foray into Malaysia in 2007 to its European debut in France in 2014, Gryphon Tea has consistently introduced innovative blends that reflect a fusion of Asian heritage and global inspiration.

A defining moment came in 2010 with the Heritage Art Series, a collaboration with the National Heritage Board, where local artists reimagined the tea boxes with a distinctly Singaporean theme. Gryphon Tea continued to push boundaries with the introduction of the White Tea series in 2010, featuring exotic blends incorporating ingredients like Egyptian basil and Thai galangal.

The company's commitment to creativity and quality is evident in its diverse collections, from the curated floral blends of 2011 to the vibrant Rooibos Collection of 2013. Gryphon Tea's global footprint expanded, reaching consumers in Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam, South Korea, and beyond.

In 2015, the Mandarin Collection and the limited edition Singapura Spice blend paid homage to Gryphon Tea's Asian origins, while the Ujong Gourmet line showcased modern Southeast Asian cuisine.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016, Gryphon Tea unveiled the Monogram range, a testament to the craft of tea layering. The Roji Cha collection, launched in 2017, aimed to engage younger tea enthusiasts with modern Japanese flavors.
